Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle corps is honored to announce that legendary brass instructor Freddy Martin has joined the brass team. Martin joins caption head Alan Armstrong and recent addition Dr. Chip Crotts in heading up the brass program for the corps. Martin's 40 year instructional career includes serving as the founding director of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps (where he still serves as Director Emeritus), a band director at South Cobb High School, Buford High School, and currently Westminster High School in the Atlanta area. Since 2004 he has served as brass technique staff with mellophones and brass coordinator for the 2008 DCI World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.

He is widely credited with expanding the popularity of drum corps in the South and was responsible for some of the most emotionally stirring performances in DCI history with the drum corps he instructed during his tenure at Spirit.

"It's really interesting seeing things come full circle. Freddy was my first brass instructor at Spirit and hired me for my first drum corps teaching job 20 plus years ago" stated brass caption head Alan Armstrong. "We've had the chance to work together in several different situations over the years, but the opportunity to bring him on to work with us at CorpsVets is a special pleasure and honor for me and the corps as well. I can't wait to get him in front of the line and let him work his magic with the members here at CV." Brad Hood commented how very excited he is that the members will have the opportunity to learn from a teacher of Freddy's caliber.

Martin is helping design the technique program and will work with the corps at several winter camps as well as coming in several times during the summer competitive season.

"Drum corps at all levels has always been important to me" stated Martin. "I am excited to be a part of DCA for the first time and happy to be back with many of my former students and their families. What a thrill this will be to teach with Alan and a staff of true professionals. I am honored to have this opportunity."
